2024 Emmys Hosts Dan Levy and Eugene Levy Beg You To Say Their Last Name Correctly

Dan Levy and Eugene Levy are finally setting some records straight.
The father son duo took on hosting duties at the 2024 Emmy Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles Sept. 15, and while welcoming guests to television's biggest night—which Dan joked is "also known as broadcast tv's biggest night for honoring movie stars on streaming services"—the Schitt's Creek alums took a moment to chat about their last name.
Noting that they were very excited to be hosting for the evening, Eugene, 77, was quick to remind the crowd that he and his son are not stand up comedians, with Dan, 41, chiming in to tell the crowd that they're more like "actors acting like hosts."
"Which is a huge gamble for us," he continued, "but if it goes well tonight, my name is pronounced lev-ee not lee-vee."
To which father Eugene jokingly added, "And if things go south, my name is pronounced Martin Short."
And the duo—who are both Emmy winners in their own right thanks to their work on Schitt's Creek—also sent a message to future winners about keeping their acceptance speeches short and sweet.
"In what can only be described as a cruel joke," Dan quipped, "two Canadians have been put in charge of playing you off tonight."
Eugene added, "Canadians don't like interrupting anybody, it goes against our nature."
And Dan is hoping that it won't come to anything confrontational, as it would be especially anxiety-inducing for his "77-year-old father."
"The man is frailer than he looks, he gets palpitations from time to time, I'm hearing about tendonitis," Dan pleaded. "I don't wanna be alarmist here, but having to cut you off could kill this man."
And fingers crossed, the winners tonight adhere to the duo's pleadings.
To see who those winners are at the 2024 Emmy Awards, keep reading.
